Rediscovering Roots: The Story Behind Our Farming Simulator Playlist

Posted on November 17, 2024 by Sim Farmer Jim

Welcome to my new Farming Simulator 25 playlist! This series isn’t just about playing a game—it’s a heartfelt journey inspired by family, heritage, and the enduring legacy of a farm. Let me take you behind the scenes to share the story that shaped this adventure.

A Legacy Passed Down

Farms are more than fields of crops and barns of livestock—they’re places where stories are sown alongside seeds. My journey begins with my Grandpa Walter, the heart and soul of Hickory Brook Farm. He dedicated his life to the land, raising crops and animals with care, while creating memories that would shape generations.

Growing up, visits to Grandpa’s farm were magical. The mornings started with the crow of roosters and the smell of fresh hay. My favorite moments were spent in the barn, helping Grandpa with chores or riding along on the tractor. Evenings were for porch talks, where Grandpa shared stories of his youth, like plowing with horses or the excitement of using his first tractor.

But time moves forward, and life takes us in unexpected directions. My father, though raised on the farm, chose a career in the city, building a successful business of his own. It left Grandpa wondering about the future of the farm—a legacy without an heir.

A Late Summer Decision

For years, I followed in my father’s footsteps, working as a CPA in the bustling city. Yet, despite my success, I felt something missing. Late one August, the memories of the farm began calling to me—the peaceful rhythm of the land, the satisfaction of hard work, and the stories Grandpa told.

I remembered overhearing Grandpa and Dad discussing the farm’s future. Dad, happy with his city life, wasn’t interested in returning to the countryside. That’s when the idea struck me: Why not me?

With a little savings and a big leap of faith, I left my corporate job and headed back to Hickory Brook Farm.

The Playlist: Bringing the Story to Life

This playlist in Farming Simulator 25 is my way of sharing that story with you. Set on the stunning map of Riverbend Springs, I step into the role of the grandson taking over Grandpa Walter’s farm. It’s a tribute to the peaceful life I remember, a chance to explore the challenges of farming, and a way to honor the legacy of family and tradition.

The first episode starts with a guided tour of the farm, introducing you to the land, its history, and the work ahead. As the series progresses, we’ll blend the old-world farming techniques Grandpa taught me with the modern innovations I’ll learn along the way.

Join the Journey

This playlist is more than gameplay; it’s a celebration of roots, heritage, and the enduring connection between family and the land. Whether you’re a fan of Farming Simulator or just love a good story, I invite you to join me on this adventure.

Together, we’ll navigate the challenges of farming, discover the joy of hard work, and ensure Grandpa Walter’s legacy thrives for years to come.

FS25 Riverbend Springs August 2024 preview

Posted on August 2, 2024 by Sim Farmer Jim

Giants Software released more information and photose on the American Map, Riverbend Springs for Farming Simulator 25 that is set to release in November 2024.

Riverbend Springs in Farming Simulator 25 is aptly named for its vast, winding river and numerous creeks and streams. The area features a ferry for river crossings and includes various water-centric elements like piers, jetties, houseboats, and floating restaurants, emphasizing its celebration of water. Senior level designer Florian Busse highlighted this focus at FarmCon, making it a fitting setting for new water physics and the addition of rice cultivation.

The scenic landscape of Riverbend Springs showcases lush agricultural fields, dense tree lines, and a prominent water tower, all under a dynamic, partially cloudy sky. The water tower, marked with “Riverbend Springs” and adorned with patriotic colors, stands as a testament to the community’s reliance on water resources. The surrounding autumnal foliage and expansive fields enhance the rural charm of the area.

The serene forest area in Riverbend Springs features a rich underbrush of shrubs and grasses, with tall trees filtering sunlight through their canopies, creating an ethereal morning atmosphere. This tranquil setting invites exploration and captures the natural beauty of the forested regions.

The Grain Elevator Museum in Riverbend Springs seems to be a significant feature, possibly requiring completion similar to the Roller Coaster or Wooden Collectible Museum in Silver Run Forest from Farming Simulator 22. Similarly, the playground may be another community project needing completion.

The river is a major focus in Riverbend Springs, potentially linking the grain terminal on the river with the main grain terminal connected to the rail, suggesting additional sell points accessible via both the river and railroad. Giants Software hinted at usable waterways during FarmCon 24, though details remain sparse.

Riverbend Springs also features various appealing spots, including construction sites and businesses ready to buy your goods. The possibility of NPC interactions and scenic locations like Sunset Sunflower Farms suggest a rich and engaging environment for players.

Historic buildings in Riverbend Springs include an old grain elevator, a paper mill by the river, and century-old brick structures. Other notable sites include a rope maker, wagon builder, and cement factory, adding to the town’s historical and industrial charm.
